Paper Gingerbread House Art Project
Time required: 40-60 minutes (depends how much detail they have)
Materials:
Construction paper - variety of colours
White paper (printer weight is fine)
Scissors
Glue stick
Pencil
If adding snow:
White acrylic paint
Bowl or container
Large paintbrush
A bit of water
Steps:
This project is really just a “go for it” type project.
Other than the house and the background, this is a great way to use up scraps!
Start by creating your house shape. You can draw it first, then cut it and glue it down onto the background colour of your choice.
I cut out a bit of snow and added it in front of the house.
I added an “icing” roof, but that' was just a design choice.
Use the construction paper to create any elements you want to decorate the house.
For challenging things to make out of paper (such as the candy canes), I used paper with marker.
If you’d like to add snow, mix white acrylic paint with a tiny bit of water to loosen it. Go outside or put down newspaper or a table cloth and very carefully flick the bristles to create snow. To avoid a giant mess, I usually do it outside, a few at a time.
